Covid-19 update, spring 2021:

As of January 2021, I have received both stages of the Covid-19 vaccine.

That being said, health and safety is my highest priority, following CDC recommendations regarding the novel coronavirus, I continue to wear medical N95 masks with clients and while in public.

Separate from my photography work, I happen to be certified as an emergency medical technician (EMT).

During the pandemic, I have been staff on a 911 ambulance, run a screening program for workers in a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility, and I’m currently working in the emergency department of a local hospital.

I’m part of a larger team of a few dozen nurses, respiratory therapists, and doctors who see over 200 patients a day in an emergency setting where social distancing is impossible. My role in the ED has me in contact with Covid-19 patients a few times in any given week. and I’m meticulous about the use of N95 masks, not only around patients, but anytime I’m outside of my home.

I recognize some clients may not be willing to work with a photographer who also works in healthcare during the pandemic and has regular exposure to Covid-19.

Of course, bringing in any contractor for physical, on-site work requires an honest assessment of the risk that contractor brings to your operation.

It’s my view that a photographer who has been vaccinated, has reliable access to PPE, a habit of fastidious N95 mask use and access to medical information from more than a dozen emergency medicine doctors regarding Covid-19 is a smart risk compared to a vendor whose approach to Covid-19 may not be so rigorous.

As the vaccine rollout continues in 2021, I am happy to discuss Covid-19 concerns and approaches to manage risks with clients.
